Martin Cahill was an Irish gangster born in Dublin on May 23, 1949. He was one of twelve children and was sentenced to two years in prison for burglary at the age of 16. Leading several gangs, his operations included burglaries totaling over £60 million and kidnappings. Known for his meticulous planning and sobriety, he earned the nickname 'The General.' Cahill was shot dead on August 18, 1994, allegedly by the IRA. His life inspired the films 'The General,' featuring Brendan Gleeson, and 'Ordinary Decent Criminal' with Kevin Spacey, as well as a book titled 'The General.'
