Martin Richard Gilks was an English musician born on 2 March 1965 in Stourbridge. He was the original drummer for the band the Wonder Stuff, formed in 1986. Prior to that, he played with the Mighty Lemon Drops. The Wonder Stuff achieved significant success with several top-forty singles and albums, leading to Gilks being named the best drummer by NME in 1989. After the band's disbandment in 1994, he worked with other projects, including We Know Where You Live and Furtive Mass Transit Systems. He passed away on 3 April 2006 at the age of 41.
