Holmes contributed to Motoring News and later Autosport, and also wrote annual rally books. He co-drove for prominent drivers including Andy Dawson, Pentti Airikkala, and Ove Andersson. His literary work was significant, with his rally books and photographs from Maurice Selden being highlights of his legacy. Holmes passed away from cancer on June 11, 2020.
