Martin Koomen, born on March 3, 1939, in Schiedam, is a Dutch documentalist, journalist, and author. He began his journalism career in 1958 with Zwolse Courant, later working for Het Vrije Volk and Vrij Nederland until the early 2000s. Besides novels and non-fiction, he authored thrillers featuring the fictional secret agent Robert Portland and his younger colleague Lieutenant Eduard Fokkema. Koomen is the son of Jan Koomen, a journalist and press chief for various organizations.
