Martin Bradbury Wilk was a Canadian statistician born in Montreal on December 18, 1922. He served as Chief Statistician of Canada from 1980 to 1985. Wilk is best known for the Shapiro-Wilk test, which he developed in collaboration with American statistician Samuel Shapiro in 1965. This statistical test is widely used for verifying the normality of data distributions. Wilk passed away in Yorba Linda, California on February 19, 2013.
