Martin zur Nedden is a German urban planner and academic born on October 15, 1952, in Hannover. He served as the city surveyor in Bochum from 1999 to 2006 and then in Leipzig from 2006 to 2013, where he held formal roles as deputy mayor for urban development and construction. Following this, he became the scientific director and managing director at the German Institute for Urban Affairs (difu) in Berlin, a position he held until 2018. He is the son of Felix zur Nedden and the brother of Dietrich zur Nedden.
