He studied at Rīgas 64. and Rīgas 93. secondary schools and earned a master's degree in economics from the University of Latvia. During his secondary school years, he formed the band 'Zuši', which was later renamed Double Faced Eels. Alongside his music career, he also learned guitar from a private tutor.
