Mārtiņš Pļaviņš is a Latvian beach volleyball player born on May 8, 1985, in Riga. He became a junior world champion in 2005 with partner Aleksandrs Samoilov. Pļaviņš competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics, achieving a notable group stage victory over the American defending champions Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser, but was eliminated in the round of 16. He partnered with Jānis Šmēdiņš, winning bronze at the 2010 European Championship and the 2012 Olympics, where he served as Latvia's flag bearer. He also won gold at the 2015 European Games with Haralds Regža.
