Martinus de Beer, born on April 22, 1979, in Windhoek, Namibia, is a writer based in Bloemfontein, South Africa. He moved there with his family in 1989. He completed his matriculation at Jim Fouché High School in 1997 and earned his B.Compt degree in 2000 and B.Acc. Honours in 2002 from the University of the Free State. He worked as a trainee accountant before focusing on writing. His debut novel, 'Hemelhel', was published in 2007 after becoming a finalist in a writing competition.
