Martiros Hambarzum Arakelyan was an Armenian historian, born on March 24, 1915, in Shamkhor, Azerbaijan, and he passed away on October 1, 1986, in Yerevan, Armenian SSR, USSR. He earned a doctorate in historical sciences in 1968 and became a professor in 1970. In addition to his academic achievements, he served as a lieutenant colonel in the Soviet Army.
