Marty Thau was an American music producer and manager, born on December 7, 1938, in New York City. He studied at New York University from 1956 to 1960. Thau began his career in the early 1960s working for various record labels and later joined Inherit Productions. He collaborated with notable artists such as Van Morrison and John Cale. After leaving Inherit Productions, he managed the rock band New York Dolls and founded Red Star Records in 1976. He worked with several bands, including Ramones and Suicide, until his passing in 2014 due to kidney failure.
