Marvin Galbraith Barrett (1920–2006) was an American author and educator recognized for his expertise in broadcast journalism. He was the director of the DuPont-Columbia Survey of Broadcast Journalism and received the Sigma Delta Chi Award for journalism. A Harvard graduate and U.S. Navy veteran, Barrett worked as a contributing editor for major magazines, including TIME and Newsweek. His near-death experience in 1984 led him to publish 'Second Chance: A Life After Death' in 1999. He was married to Mary Ellin Berlin, the daughter of composer Irving Berlin.
