He graduated from Roosevelt High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. A building contractor, he was active in politics and served in the Minnesota Senate from 1947 to 1958. After his political career, he lived in Bloomington, Minnesota, and passed away on February 13, 1998. He remained rooted in Minnesota for most of his life before his death in Bradenton, Florida.
