Marvin Leo Kwitko was a Canadian ophthalmologist renowned for pioneering cataract surgery and laser eye surgery. Notably, he was the first in Canada to insert intraocular lens implants and to perform radial keratotomy. He served as an associate professor of ophthalmology at McGill University and as Chief of Ophthalmology at St. Mary’s Hospital. Kwitko founded and led the Canadian Implant Society for 20 years. Born in New York and raised in Brantford, Ontario, he was also involved in music during his academic years, serving as bandmaster.
