Mary Braa Hegge was a Norwegian teacher and children's author born on January 20, 1908, in Byneset. She trained at Levanger lærerskole and taught from 1931 to 1964 in various schools, primarily in Inderøy. Starting her writing career in 1941, she published under the pseudonym Mari Bru. Her debut book, 'Beritungen,' released in 1951, won an award. Hegge was also a popular speaker and poet locally, married to Ole Hegge, and they had two children.
