She served as a member of the Liberal Party representing the Burin-Placentia West riding in the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly from 1996 to 2003. Before her political career, she worked at the Avalon Telephone Company. She was also deputy mayor of Marystown and was elected to the assembly in 1996 and re-elected in 1999, but did not seek re-election in 2003.
