Mary Angela Tortorich was an American voice teacher and one of the South's leading voice pedagogues, known for her exceptional soprano voice and teaching at Loyola University of the South for 55 years. Born in New Orleans, she studied voice at Loyola and later at The Juilliard School. Following her graduation in 1942, she performed at Carnegie Hall in 1946. Among her notable students were Ruth Falcon and Phyllis Treigle. Tortorich retired in 2003 and lived to be 102 years old, passing away in March 2017.
