He escaped from custody on February 27, 2008, leading to Singapore's largest manhunt in history. He was captured on April 1, 2009, in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. In January 2006, he was arrested by Indonesian anti-terror units and extradited to Singapore, where he was accused of plotting a bombing attack at Singapore's airport. He has been held in detention since his arrest, without the possibility of court review.
