Masaaki Morishita was a prominent Japanese ecologist born on January 27, 1913, in Osaka. He was a respected professor at Kyoto University and is recognized as a founder of population ecology in Japan. He obtained his Doctor of Science degree from Kyoto University in 1950. Throughout his career, Morishita contributed significantly to ecological research and education. He passed away on February 25, 1997, and was posthumously awarded the fourth rank in the Japanese honor system.
