Masahiko Arai (born March 23, 1950) is a Japanese mystery writer from Miyashiro, Saitama Prefecture. Arai graduated from the Faculty of Letters at Chuo University. He gained recognition in 1999 with 'CATT: The Message Delivered', winning the Excellent Work Award at the 16th Suntory Mystery Award. The following year, his work 'The Coffin of Neverland' also received an Excellent Work Award. Arai debuted in 2005 with 'The Curse of the Huguenots', which earned him the New Author Award at the 8th Japanese Mystery Literature Award. He passed the first selection for the 42nd Masashi Yokomizo Mystery & Horror Award with 'A Village Raising a God' in 2020, but did not proceed further.
