Masaki Morimoto was a Japanese astronomer born on May 14, 1932, and he passed away on November 16, 2010. He specialized in radio astronomy and was a professor emeritus at the University of Tokyo and the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan. He was the second son of mathematician Seigo Morimoto and Harie Morimoto. He was also a grandson of entrepreneur and educator Toshijiro Fukazawa and a great-grandson of businessman Yuuzou Fukazawa. His brother was Yoshiki Morimoto, a historian specializing in Western studies.
