Masami Tanabu, born on December 7, 1934, in Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture, is a former Japanese ice hockey player, coach, and politician. He was a member of the Democratic Party (DPJ) and served as a representative in the House of Councillors until 2010. Additionally, he held the position of Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries from 1991 to 1993. As an ice hockey player, Tanabu participated in the Winter Olympics twice and served as the head coach of the national team during the Sapporo Games in 1972.
