He graduated from Tokyo Metropolitan Toyama High School and Yokohama City University before joining NHK in 1976. His various postings included stations in Takamatsu, Asahikawa, Sapporo, Hiroshima, Fukuoka, and Nagoya, before becoming a freelance announcer around 2015. His hobbies include golf.
