Masaru Sakurai, born on January 20, 1955, is a member of the Japanese band THE ALFEE. He hails from Arakawa Village (now part of Chichibu City) in Saitama Prefecture. A bassist, he is also the only original member of the band's predecessor, Confidence. Sakurai dropped out of the Law School at Meiji Gakuin University but was later awarded an honorary bachelor's degree. His interests include saving money, shogi, baseball, magic, tennis, and F1. He has also served as the leader of BE∀T BOYS under the name George Harisen.
