Masaru Tomita is a prominent Japanese scientist known for his contributions to systems biology and computer science. He founded the E-Cell simulation system and invented the GLR parser algorithm. A professor at Keio University and director of the Institute for Advanced Biosciences, he also co-founded several companies, including Human Metabolome Technologies, Inc. Tomita has received multiple awards for his innovative work, including the IBM Japan Science Prize and the Minister of Science and Technology Policy Award. He is the son of famous composer Isao Tomita.
