Since September 2022, he has served as Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary and Deputy Director of the National Security Secretariat. He became the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs in August 2023, marking the first such appointment from the Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary in 11 years.
