Masayoshi Mitani is a retired Japanese alpine skier born on January 5, 1938. He competed in downhill, slalom, and giant slalom events at the 1960 Winter Olympics, achieving a highest finish of 33rd in giant slalom. Following a serious head injury in preparation for the 1964 Winter Olympics, Mitani retired from competitions. He graduated from Waseda University and became a skiing coach and researcher, serving as head coach of the national alpine skiing team leading up to the 1972 Winter Olympics. He later worked in a ski school and provided commentary on skiing events.
