Mathai Chacko (1959-2006) was a Kerala-based politician who served as a member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly from 2001-2006, representing the Thiruvambadi constituency. He was affiliated with the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and made history by being the first elected MLA to take his oath outside the assembly, doing so on May 29, 2006, at Lake Shore Hospital in Kochi, where he was being treated for leukemia.
