Matteo Casserino was an Italian American mandolinist and composer known for his musical contributions after retiring from a career as a cabinet maker. Born in Ragusa in 1913, he emigrated to the United States in 1936 and eventually settled in San Francisco in 1943. There, he engaged in woodworking while also developing his skills as a mandolinist. Following his retirement in 1973, he dedicated himself to music, performing weekly at the Caffe Trieste until moving to San Rafael, CA in 1990.
