She was educated at Methodist Ladies' College and became a prolific writer known for her contributions to children's and young adult literature, as well as biographies and non-fiction. Clark was awarded the Children's Book of the Year Award in 1967 for 'The Min-Min,' and in 1996, she received the AM honor for her services to the arts. She passed away on July 8, 1999.
