She dedicated her life to educating others about the black history and environmental significance of American Beach, located on Amelia Island. As the granddaughter of millionaire Abraham Lincoln Lewis, who founded the beach, she experienced luxury but later gave away her fortune to environmental causes. Betsch ultimately lived on American Beach, where she spent her days resting in a chaise longue and promoting awareness of the area's importance.
