Samuel Maxwell McCready (8 March 1918 – 1994) was an accomplished Irish amateur golfer, best known for winning the 1949 Amateur Championship. He represented Great Britain in the Walker Cup in 1949 and 1951. McCready learned the game near the Dunmurry golf course, Belfast, before serving in the Royal Air Force during World War II. He moved to South Africa in 1959 to work in construction and passed away there in 1994. His widow Joan outlived him, dying in 2015 at the age of 109.
