May Britt Myhr, born on May 27, 1960, is a Norwegian chemist and petroleum researcher. She studied analytical organic chemistry in Trondheim from 1980 to 1985. Myhr began working at SINTEF Petroleum Research in 1986, becoming research leader in 2000 and managing director in 2005. She was research head at the Natural History Museum in Oslo and became the head of the Institute of Petroleum Technology at the University of Stavanger in 2015. In August 2018, she was appointed as the director of the Geological Survey of Norway, the first woman to hold this position.
