Michael (Mechie) Trommelen was a Dutch entrepreneur born on August 13, 1918, in Waalwijk. He started his career with a butcher shop in 1948, expanding to a second shop due to demand. In 1965, he opened a supermarket named EM-TÉ, based on his initials, which marked the beginning of EMTÉ Supermarkten. Though it began as a family business, it was sold to Sligro Food Group in 2002 while retaining the EM-TÉ brand, thus preserving its family-oriented character.
