Melis (Mees) van Huis was a Dutch organist and composer of organ music, born on July 1, 1909, in Zeist. He began his musical education under Utrecht’s Dom organist Hendrik Bos and later attended the Amsterdam Conservatory. Van Huis served as music teacher at the Bartiméus Institute for the blind and conducted various choirs. Known for his improvisational skills, he composed numerous organ works, including two passacaglias and Psalm 46. He retired as an organist in 1980 when the church was transformed into a museum.
