Margaret Farquhar (1910-1988), the first female professional golfer in Britain, began her career at 19 as an assistant at Moray Golf Club. She became notable for participating in the Scottish Professional Championship of 1933, where she excelled against male competitors. After marrying in 1946, she returned to amateur golf in 1949, reaching the semi-finals of the Scottish Women's Amateur Championship. Farquhar represented Scotland in Women's Home Internationals in 1950 and 1951, winning all her matches. She also won the Moray championship nine times and the Northern Counties Championship five times.
