She is the daughter of Sukarno, the first president of Indonesia. Megawati is also the leader of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (Partai Demokrasi Indonesia Perjuangan) since 1999. At the age of 66, she has played a significant role in Indonesian politics, notably in the democratic development of the nation.
