Mehbooba Mufti is an Indian politician from the Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party. She served as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir from April 4, 2016, to June 19, 2018, forming a coalition government with the Bharatiya Janata Party. She resigned on June 19, 2018, after the Bharatiya Janata Party withdrew from the coalition. Mufti is notable for being the first and only woman to hold the position of Chief Minister in the state and is the president of the People's Democratic Party as well as a member of the Indian Parliament.
