Mehdi Jomaa, born on April 21, 1962, in Mahdia, is a Tunisian engineer and politician. He served as the Minister of Industry in Ali Larayedh's government. Following Larayedh's resignation, Jomaa was officially tasked by President Moncef Marzouki to form a new government on January 10, 2014. He took office after being sworn in on January 29, 2014, with the National Constituent Assembly approving his government. In October 2015, he was appointed a member of Club de Madrid, and on March 29, 2017, he announced the establishment of a political party called Al-Badil al-Tunisi, which he leads.
