Mehmed Hafizović was a Nakshibendi sheikh and commander of the 'Sheikh Hasan Kaimija' unit within the 1st Muslim Podrinje Mountain Brigade of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Born on January 13, 1957, in Potočari, he served as an imam and became a significant figure during the Bosnian War. He was heavily involved in refugee assistance and ultimately became the moral commander of his brigade, dying on May 2, 1994, after stepping on a mine. He was posthumously awarded the 'Zlatni ljiljan' in 1996.
