Mehmet Nimet Özdaş was a prominent Turkish scientist born on March 26, 1921, in Istanbul and passed away on June 17, 2014, also in Istanbul. He graduated from Istanbul Technical University and completed his postgraduate studies at Imperial College and earned his doctorate at London University. He became a professor at Istanbul Technical University and founded the university's Computer Center in 1961. Özdaş held significant positions such as the founding secretary-general of TÜBİTAK, director of the Marmara Research Center, and chairman of NATO's Science Committee.
