Melerson Guy Dunham was an American educator and activist from Mississippi. She overcame challenges to attain a college and graduate education and worked as a teacher and professor at Alcorn Agricultural and Mechanical College and Prentiss Institute. Dunham was also a historian and published the book Centennial History of Alcorn College. She was a women's rights and civil rights activist, founding and leading numerous organizations throughout her life. Dunham also helped numerous students complete their education and was known as "Mom" for her support of young people.
