Ratu Meli Bainimarama (1945-2023) was a Fijian civil servant and diplomat, brother of dictator Frank Bainimarama. He joined Fiji's public service in 1967, eventually becoming permanent secretary for several ministries. After the 2006 coup, he was briefly appointed chief executive officer of the Fijian Affairs Board but was dismissed the next day. Later, he served as Fiji's High Commissioner to Malaysia and Ambassador to Thailand, significantly contributing to Fijian governance and diplomacy.
