Joaquim de Melo Freire, commonly known as Melo Freire, is a Brazilian politician born on January 11, 1927, in Passos. He served as a federal deputy during the 1988 constituent assembly. Coming from a farming background, he also held the position of secretary-general for both the state executive committee and the regional directory of the Arena party in Minas Gerais. He was married to Maria Helena Isaac Freire and they had four children together.
