Mercè Riera Manté is a Catalan social promoter born in Granollers on August 19, 1944. As a mother of four, she has experienced the loss of two of her disabled children. In 1997, she founded El Xiprer, a shelter in her family home addressing vulnerable individuals, with efforts reaching 1,800 people by 2013. She is a patron of the Vallès Oriental Private Foundation and was awarded the City Medal of Granollers in 2007. In 2014, the Catalan Government honored her with the Creu de Sant Jordi for her significant and compassionate community contributions.
