Mercedes Colás de Meronio, known as 'Borota', was an Argentine human rights activist born on July 11, 1925, and passed away on April 21, 2021. She served as vice president of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo, an organization dedicated to advocating for the victims of state terrorism in Argentina. Colás suffered personal tragedy when her father, José María Colás, was executed during the Spanish Civil War, and her daughter, Alicia Meronio, disappeared on January 5, 1978, a fate that remained unknown at the time of her mother's death.
