She was honored with an Honourable Mention for her book 'The Walking Calabash and Other Stories' in 1980. Beginning her career in education, she served as a teacher and headmistress at Amma Nipaa Memorial Junior Secondary School from 1978. Additionally, she was a member of the Council of State in Ghana from 1993 to 2001 under President Jerry Rawlings, participating in significant state affairs.
