Merlin R. Lybbert (1926-2001) was a general authority of the LDS Church from 1989 to 1994, serving as the thirteenth general president of the church's Sunday School. After military service in WWII, he became a missionary and later held various leadership positions, including bishop and stake president. As a general authority, he belonged to the Second Quorum of the Seventy and oversaw the Asia Area presidency. After his release, he served as president of the Alberta Temple until 1997. He had six children and passed away in Salt Lake City.
