Merrill P. Barber was an influential American politician in Florida, serving as the mayor of Vero Beach from 1947 to 1949. He was a member of the Florida Senate during two terms, from 1954 to 1958 representing the 12th District and from 1963 to 1968 for the 29th District. Born in Marshall, Missouri in 1910, he moved to Vero Beach with his family at a young age. In addition to his political career, he also held the position of President at the Indian River County Citrus Bank.
