Metin Durmuşoğlu was a Turkish athletics coach and former high jumper born on January 11, 1974, in Eğridere, Bulgaria. He moved to Turkey in 1994 and faced challenges in acquiring Turkish citizenship, eventually becoming a citizen of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in 1999, allowing him to compete for Turkey. He held the Turkish high jump record of 2.26 meters set in 2002 until it was broken in 2018 by Alperen Acet, who also surpassed Durmuşoğlu's indoor record of 2.24 meters in 2019.
